In addition to his employment and recruiting expertise, Mr. Barkon has over fifteen years of financial advisory and corporate finance experience. Prior to Avenue Pacific, he was a founder of a boutique real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles. Earlier, Mr. Barkon was employed by CIM Group, a real estate private equity and development firm focused on urban investments. As a member of the Investment and Development Group, he was responsible for securing financing for all of CIM’s projects while simultaneously sourcing new projects for the company’s $4.0 billion discretionary real estate fund. Mr. Barkon started his real estate career at George Smith Partners where he placed in excess of $600 million in debt, mezzanine and equity financing. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Barkon was a corporate attorney specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisition, first at Simpson Thacher and Bartlett and later with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. His clients included Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, The Blackstone Group and American Media.
Mr. Barkon resides in Los Angeles, California with his family. He loves his family and spends as much of his free time as he can with his wife and children. Mr. Barkon earned his Bachelor of the Arts from Brandeis University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Columbia Business School and is a member of the State Bars of California and New York.
