Prior to founding Genoa Partners, Mr. Hsu held executive positions at prominent corporate finance and private family offices in New York and California. He began his career at Lehman Brothers in 2000 and migrated to Thomas Weisel Partners and UBS Investment Bank in order to continue to follow his M&A aspirations. While at these and other firms, Mr. Hsu continued to gain experience, holding positions with increasing responsibility and oversight. During his time in private equity, Mr. Hsu was instrumental in the acquisition strategies, sales process and in creating and implementing growth plans for portfolio companies.
When Mr. Hsu began his career, he knew wanted to actively work with private, growing businesses. These businesses and their owners embody the philosophy and motivation required to innovate and grow. He recognized the enormous value a well-run and properly executed transaction can bring to a budding enterprise and that these companies were under represented by traditional investment banking firms.
Recognizing this void and being a private business owner himself, Mr. Hsu assembled an elite group of trustworthy Partners he has had experience with in the past and began the challenge of creating a new firm that took the best traditional investment banking practices and molded them into solutions made available to all businesses. Born from this is the family of trusted Partners and advisors that lead the firm and guide their clients. Mr. Hsu lives in Orange county California with his wife and pets. When he is not working, Mr. Hsu enjoys scuba diving, skiing and other outdoor activities. As a result of his love of art, architecture and animals, Mr. Hsu donates time and money to local funds and charitable organizations which support and promote these causes. Mr. Hsu graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Certificate in Markets and Management Studies. Brian Bohr possesses over twenty years of investment banking, corporate finance and consulting experience. During his career in investment banking, Mr. Bohr has advised clients in numerous industries including consumer products, business services, technology, media and manufacturing on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and optimal capital structuring. He is passionate about working with business owners and entrepreneurs to assist them in achieving their goals, growing their business and pursuing liquidity events.
Prior to joining Genoa Partners, Mr. Bohr was a Managing Director with the investment bank of William & Henry Associates and a Vice President of Transpac Media, a boutique financial advisory firm with an international client base of middle-market media and entertainment companies.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Bohr worked in News Corporation’s corporate finance and development group where he participated in numerous corporate financings, acquisitions and divestitures including the initial public offering of the Fox Entertainment Group, the acquisition of DIRECTV and the sale of TV Guide. Mr. Bohr also worked for News Digital Ventures, a News Corporation subsidiary that made strategic venture investments in new media companies.
Mr. Bohr is a passionate supporter of Philadelphia sports teams and has amassed a large collection of fine wine which he enjoys sharing with friends and family.
Mr. Bohr holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
In addition to his employment and recruiting expertise, Mr. Barkon has over fifteen years of financial advisory and corporate finance experience. Prior to Avenue Pacific, he was a founder of a boutique real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles. Earlier, Mr. Barkon was employed by CIM Group, a real estate private equity and development firm focused on urban investments. As a member of the Investment and Development Group, he was responsible for securing financing for all of CIM’s projects while simultaneously sourcing new projects for the company’s $4.0 billion discretionary real estate fund. Mr. Barkon started his real estate career at George Smith Partners where he placed in excess of $600 million in debt, mezzanine and equity financing. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Barkon was a corporate attorney specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisition, first at Simpson Thacher and Bartlett and later with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. His clients included Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, The Blackstone Group and American Media.
Mr. Barkon resides in Los Angeles, California with his family. He loves his family and spends as much of his free time as he can with his wife and children. Mr. Barkon earned his Bachelor of the Arts from Brandeis University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Columbia Business School and is a member of the State Bars of California and New York. Prior to Union Bank, Mr. Guerrero worked with Fortune 500 companies as auditor, consultant and M&A technical advisor. His clients included Wells Fargo, Credit Suisse, Microsoft, Barclays and American Honda Finance. In addition, Mr. Guerrero has been the Corporate Development Manager with American Express in New York and London, where he worked on various transactions involving corporate divestitures, acquisitions and joint ventures and an M&A advisor with Ernst & Young in San Francisco, where he managed financial due diligence engagements for private equity firms and corporate clients. Early in his career, Mr. Guerrero was a CPA with KPMG and Ernst & Young.
In 2012, Mr. Guerrero ran as a Republican candidate in the election for California State Assembly District 63. He advanced past the blanket primary but was later defeated in the general election. Never discouraged, Mr. Guerrero answered his community’s call for public service by accepting an interim appointment to the Cathay, California City Council from 2013 to 2014.
Mr. Guerrero has lived and worked professionally in New York, San Francisco, Boston, London and Zurich. He has a distinguished career in the private sector as an advisor and corporate executive and is a member of several community affiliations including the Southern California Advisory Board, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, World Affairs Council of Northern California, The Bow Group United Kingdom and a State Delegate for the California Republican Party. Mr. Guerrero is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Economics from Stanford University as well as a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.
